Erik, for some reason I am unable to access the remainder of your tips on the site...can only get to #2. Still, these two are pretty good!
I think another thing to consider is that a lot of security issues are occurring without even considering malware. Phishers are now able to duplicate SSL certs (or create self-signed ones) that fool the user into thinking that their private info is encrypted. No malware needed here -- just purloined bank account #s and the like. Anti-virus apps won't help at all in this case, either -- it's up to the user to determine whether they're looking at a legit site. I've personally equipped all my ecommerce sites with extended validation ssl, because it's much harder (impossible, actually) for phishers to copy, and it's worth it for all the extra vetting. Really, I think the key here is to exercise more control over who can sell on the internet through a mixture of more rigorous CA standards and user intelligence (ie, boycotting sites without the appropriate encryption).
