I think there are tough times for India. Obama also wants to invest in education so kids will go for technology education. If that will be the case then there are more tech people in US who are better than low paid tech workers in India.
Outsourcing gives cheap but low quality from India.
Good that I voted for Obama. Sick of outsourcing to India.
I personally can attest to the fact that many QUALIFIED American citizens were replaced by outsourcing. In fact many AMERICANS were told, when they were given the boot, they had to train their replacments or they wouldn't get a severance package. Does that sound like there weren't enough QUALIFIED Americans? No,that sounds like a company who wanted the tax break. Why would our government EVER give a tax break to a company who was outsourcing American jobs?
I too am sick of it. I hope Obama gets the job done. Sounds like he will.
The whole story of not having enough specialized IT workers is a crock. I know in the company I work for when it came time for new technology use no one was ever offered any training as training is pretty much non-existent from the company. Now the company I work for is one of the largest and most profitable in it's industry so cost was not the issue. We got a new CIO in and then Booze and Allen were invited over. The lack of knowledge in the cutting edge of technology due to the training issue gave a good excuse for outsourcing to begin. Just as the CIO wanted in the first place. We were told this was a good thing for us because it would free us up from doing the mundane support work and free us up for the fun things. Whatever that is. Outsourcing was pretty much shoved down everyones throats but what is funny is it proves what my daddy always told me about life. You get what you pay for. You want to pay someone 12.50 an hour for work well you get 12.50 worth of work too. This whole situation looks like it is turning on the industries that outsourced as the unemployment rises people don't have as much money now to buy our products so where is the advantage in doing the effort? If you ask me the outsourcing is pushed by a lot of CIO's that are looking to pad their golden parachutes and not really for the benefit of the companies. If America does not wake up we will be the next India of the world, a 3rd world nation, but then we might be able to provide cheap labor to China and other super economical countries.
Whatever happened to American companies, Canadian companies follow the trend as in the case of IT outsourcing. Bush administration aims to serve corporation greed while collapsing the standards of living in both US and Canada. I've personally suffered a great deal in the last 7 years as a senior IT consultant in an industry that is narrowing everyday.
End the H1B Visa NOW!
And lets not forget to end the L1 visa scam which is far worse than the H1B scam and relegate them to the 'trash heap' of failed Republican/Corporate financed scams for 'cheap labor'. It appears that ACS has decided to not open their big L1 facility in Atlanta, GA remember to Just say "Go Home H1B's and L1's".
It is our country and cooler heads will prevail in this battle and we now have a mandate to hire Americans first or it will cost the corporations more than it is worth.
Show me the Shortage!
Semper Fi
It's not "corporate greed". These -- executives in business and academia in the USA and in India, trade ministers, immigration lawyers -- are individual human beings, trying to tilt things in their own personal favor, lining their personal pockets at others' expense, through putting forth the fraudulent claims of "talent shortage" when there's clearly been a talent glut all along. And they don't hesitate to invest some of their funds into "contributions" to politicians to get what they want.
What surprises me is how many in the media have taken a "don't confuse me by showing me the facts" approach to this cluster of issues, and float the press releases of the aforementioned executives, immigration lawyers and their lobbyists as though they were factual.
So, thank you, JR, for letting people know the body shoppers and their lobbyists are nervous.
