cloud computing has the same major flaw that SaaS has, every single contact with a vendor is an opportunity to get charged again for the same service, while the initial cash outlay may be small, there is never a free lunch and vendors will find new and interesting ways to nickle and dime organizations to death.

Re: "Nickle and diming" customers, I think it's true that charges could change over time. But also, if it's not cheaper to run in the cloud vs. on-premise, it will be hard for cloud vendors to stay in business. So I'm not sure this will be much of an issue.

Even so, it's probably smart to evaluate how easy it is to move back out of the cloud if business equation changes as part of the overall cloud vendor analysis.
