Not that I'm a friend of poorly addressed vulnerabilities in web browsers, the first way to avoid this particular issue with IE is to never run IE! I checked out the Safari browser because I am sick of IE and I like choices. If apple fixes this issue then I am going to sit with Safari for some time. Have you seen how fast it handles JavaScript?!
@Joe: Some of us work really hard to avoid IE. But some web apps work only with IE. (CIO's article content management system is one of them.)
And (perhaps as a result) I've known quite a few businesses that permit only IE as the "accepted" browser.
Personally I use Firefox (and Safari, on my Mac) but it's not really possible to outlaw IE. Even if one would like to do so.
