Monster Savings from Virtualization on Sesame Street

It's nice to see them break out of the proprietary business model.
Sesame Workshop also plans to virtualize its 10 non-critical, low utilization servers, some of which are running Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Some of these are one-application, one-server relics, a problem that many CIOs know all too well.
As much as MS hates it, the end to continous and multi-product tied solutions is coming to an end. When, with virtualization you can replace 10 servers with one server, well, 10X less revenue.
The article also exposes why Sun is getting into open source as a solution, their wares, while of great quality, are just too expensive.

Its nice to see IT leaders start to really get a nice mix of technology(knowing that there are other solutions then just the current leader ie:Microsoft,vmware)and business savvy (saving a non profit serious money)
The next generation of IT leaders is going to keep going in this direction and I see it as only a positive for the open source community and a company like novell.
Its not mentioned in this article but I imagine that GroupWise was the reason they still had novell in the data center.
