This is good news for both iPhone and Blackberry users -- both current and future. Competition between the two can only be good for users. I'm currently depending on a Treo 700p for mobile communications, etc., but would consider either other platform if it met ALL of my needs. (The Treo is 95% there.)
Maria...A Trio? Wow...I had one of those things, I had to reset it every two days. My BB 8700, maybe once a month if anything? Hopefully 9000 series out soon.
BB Rule at Mail nothing can touch it. 200+ world wide carriers for BB compared to a few for Apple? Come on. BB Still wins. Who really wants a full web experience on a phone anyway?
In my view, the only thing BB does good is that it doesn´t crash and does email well. Otherwise it is horribly designed. For example, every time I run out of power my BB has to be recharged for at least 20 min before I can make another call - who ever designed that "feature" into the system? Also, good luck trying to change some settings. I was trying to customise one of the new GPS BBs for a colleague - for some reason they removed some of the options in the previous "Themes" setting. God knows where they ended up. That shows that ultimately, RIM don´t worry as much about the user experience as Apple does. Ultimately, that´s what matters which is why I predict Apple will win this battle.

BlackBerry vs iPhone: Business Users More Happy With the iPhone??
http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/blackberry-general-discussion/1821-blackberry-vs-iphone-business-users-more-happy-iphone.html
The main issue for us here in the Middle East is obviously that iPhone is not officially sold here but people buy it in droves anyway, and that we have very bad data plans, which don't suit the iPhone well. We do have decent Blackberry plans which weighs heavily in favor for Berries of course, over the iPhone. Also, there's no reason to hack and unlock Blackberry. But we deal as best we can with the issues of iPhone in the Middle East on our site www.emiratesmac.com.
Klaus,
I couldn't agree more. I also have a BlackBerry and I absolutely loathe the thing. I'd always wanted one and I was initially thrilled, for about five minutes. The UI is clunky and not intuitive, and when I make a call I feel like I'm holding a tv remote to my face. Mine is an older model, however, and when I played with a friend's Pearl I thought it was pretty neat and could see myself actually being persuaded to use that. Unfortunately, every BB owner I know is dissatisfied to some degree or another. On the other hand, pretty much every iPhone owner I know is thrilled with their purchase.
I have been an Apple user since the 1980's and was a Blackberry user from the first device. The more time passes, the more Apple's products become user-friendlier and more usable.
The more time passes the RIM devices move further and further away from their original simplicity and reliability.
It's gotten that (in addition to the AT&T crippled GPS capabilities) many users can't even figure out how to set up the BB to vibrate for incoming calls but be quiet for incoming messages, or vice-versa. The new trackball is ghastly in design, terrible in use.
BB will remain in force with people who are speed typists on its keyboards, that iPhone touch interface cannot compete with at this stage. For others, overall, the iPhone is a far better platform than BB is or will be.

I'm still on the fence. I have a BB, but it is limited (by work requirements) to only allow email to my office address. I need access to other email during the day without hauling out my notebook. I'm gunshy about the keyboard though - seems difficult to use quickly. I can't determine Pearl or iPhone.
pocketmac is good?
yeah i guess if you're slow and stupid and can't input contacts on your BB.
it still doesnt do file transfer or any kind of OS upgrading.
which is ridiculous.
