Point #5 is the most important. You lose your voice reliability and you've got nothing. That's why the whole Microsoft OCS storyline MUST be scrutinized from the voice reliability perspective by anyone who is seriously thinking about making that type of drastic switch. OCS is NOT a voice platform....it's just not. Anyone who thinks three nines reliability is good enough (as Microsoft execs are on record saying) doesn't really get this point of how important the role of voice really is to enterprises.

WRT Nortel. Follow the Chapter 11 story & the layoffs. 'nuff said.
WRT MS and their OCS story. Try a google of successful OCS installations Vs non. 'nuff said.
Consider multi-point Vs. single-point solutions. Why are the success stories from those with single-point installs? Why are the satisfaction ratings from them too?
So, long story short, "UC" is still, a year later, a dog's breakfast & not readily available from a single vendor. Add in that the definition of UC is changing yet again to expand to include back-end integration of data, web-based avitars & knowledgebase systems, etc. and it is still a path requiring carefully consideration. Worth doing but requiring thought.
