does that fancy computer program tell them TO CHEAT ? WE all know they were caught several times playing in areas that were pointed out as NO-NOS...yet still won the cup !!
WHO SAYS CHEATERS NEVER WIN EH CHAD !!
There is not a racecar in any divison at any level that doesn't cheat a little. From the local racers soaking tires to the big boys trying to get help in areas that are considered off guard.
AND as any tech inspector will tell you ...... if it dont say it in rule book , its not a rule ....but when teams are TOLD areas they cant play in ...and DO ANYWAYS ...THATS CHEATING ...NA$CAR thought so TOO ...they just didnt make the penalty severe enuff..
Very good analysis of how the technical side of race organizations work. I don't think cheating is a goal as some readers believe. Sometimes they get so caught up in trying new stuff, some of NASCAR's rules get overlooked. NASCAR can be faulted in many cases for regulating the life right out of the sport.
This was a very informative article Your moonshinning decade is a little off Junior Johnson went to prison in 1956 I think. Attended my first race in 2/57 saw the Beach race at Daytona. There have been a lot of changes since then some good some not so good but I think some folks who are so concerned with "cheating" might be better served by a diffrent sport. May I sugest Pro football.
There are allot of gray ares within the rules. There has also been blatent cheating that has always gone on. Tell me that Ernie Elliot wasn't up to something back in the mid to late 1980's when Bill Elliot was practically unbeatable on the superspeedways? Hendricks success is primarily a result of team building, teamwork and keeping people employed there long term. Chad Knaus started there sweeping floors.
Nascar makes up the penalities as they go along....don't be a hater!!!
SPRAXMOORE OR WHATEVER - GET A LIFE - JR. ALSO GOT CAUGHT WITH ILLEGAL PART - EVERYONE TRIES TO TAKE THE RULES TO THE LIMIT AND I DO MEAN EVERY TEAM - IT IS NOT CHEATING AND NASCAR STATED THAT THE RULE INFRINGED WAS SOMEWHAT UNCLEAR SO QUIT HARPING ON THE OLD NEWS AND GET A LIFE -
The article is a blatant ad for the Siemens PLM system and reveals nothing about how NASCAR teams operate that isn't already known and standard practice. No secrets here fellows. Want to know the real secrets of NASCAR teams, you've got to dig deeper, rub elbows with the engineers, be in the shops, be on the road with 'em, eat with 'em, think like 'em.
DJ
No one would care if it was the #8 Car. They would have celebrated the fact he was caught bucking the system, so quit acting so damn pias. We will see what little E is really made of now that he is on a winning and "professional" team.
I think it is poetic justice that little E went with Hendrick. He knows where to go to win!! So much for P($$ on 24 LMAO.
