Aflac's BlackBerry guru shares power tips and tricks for your RIM smartphone. Here's how to improve your typing, messaging, browsing, attachment handling and more.
I enjoyed the useful tips. I managed to figure out a couple of these on my own, mostly by accident, but learned several new ones.
Excellent!
I am interested in receiving RSS feeds to my Blackberry.
Suggestions?
Good tips (I learnt a few). However, I'm surprised not to have seen the "best" shortcuts in terms of avoiding wearing out your thumbwheel or getting Blackberry Thumb.
When in a list of messages, or when reading a message:
T- Top
B- Bottom
Space bar- next page
Num shift + Space bar - previous page
When in a list of messages:
N- go to Next day
P- go to Prev day
This handful of tips should easily account for 50% of all time saving, since reading and writing emails is where we spend most of our time.
To be fair to Margaret, she did mention the shortcuts in the above comment, but I didn't include them in the article because I thought they were "too basic."
However, perhaps I should have included them, because they're probably the shortcuts I use most often.
So thanks for the comment, Anonymous.

Greg, for RSS feeds you should download Viigo. You can get it be either going to http://viigo.com on your PC or by going to http://getviigo.com on your Blackberry.
Greg, I second the vote for Viigo. It is free, but also has a corporate edition as well. It is one of the things that allows me more free time when I'm home, because I've read everything while on the train.
Awesome tips from Margaret! And you've got to love the ingenuity behind the title of technology concierge...which, let's admit it, every company needs but rarely recognizes.
We need more useful tips like these from Blackberry, so keep 'em coming!
Definitely good stuff. Has anyone mentioned that some of these shortcuts don't work on the suretype keyboards, or are slightly different.
What spell checker is the article referring to? My 8800 certainly doesn't have one that I've seen, and definitely not how the article says to turn it on.
Hi there, Anonymous.
The spell check option is most certainly available on 8800 series devices. I've got an 8830 in my hand right now, and I had no trouble finding Spell Check based on the article's instructions:
"To enable automatic spell checking of e-mail messages, click the Options icon on BlackBerry home screen. Then click Spell Check and select the Spell Check E-Mail Before Sending option. "
The Options icon on the BlackBerry home screen looks like either a wrench or a light switch depending on your theme. Once you click the Options icon, you simple scroll down to the Spell Check item.

Just want to mention my favorite shortcut to use. When in a message that is part of a multi-email thread (many replies) press J to jump to the next message in the thread and press K to jump to the previous.
Keep in mind this shortcut uses the message subject as a flag. If there are mulitple message threads with the same subject or someone changes the subject on a reply you may get inconsistant results.
