The surveys of system and network administrators at the recent InterOp, reflecting ITIL as a low priority, continues to frustrate executive management. The greatest challenges faced by IT identified at the Conference (Improving service levels -29%;Supporting new technologies, enabling innovation -22%;Boosting staff productivity -17%) are those same challenges best handled by process best practice. The whole point is to get IT to abide the business rather than suffer the other way around.

It seems progress is being made to fill the gaps. A new virtualization management tool named vWire has hit the market to help IT professionals manage their virtual infrastructures. It is getting rave reviews and provides complete insight into VMware environments. I believe they have a 30 day free trial.

We, at Tek-Tools software(http://www.tek-tools.com) are seeing increasing demand for unified virtual and physical server management. Our flagship product, the Profiler Suite provides monitoring and reporting for both physical and virtual environments including VMware, storage, servers ,backups, applications, network etc and in spite of the recession we have seen 50% growth in revenue over last year.
