The rise of new, easy-to-use antiforensic tools threatens to render computer forensics investigations cost-prohibitive and digital evidence-gathering unreliable in court.
That's the worst introduction to a story I've ever read.

"That rootkit allowed the hacker who’d planted it to establish a secure tunnel so he could work undetected and “get root”—administrator’s access to the aquarium network."
My god are CIOs really this stupid or does the author usually write books for children.
cio aim at it-managers. it takes a while to get through to those dense buggers.
And seriously, being owned for two years.. thats embaressing
CIO and upper IT management, are more management than IT.
It takes very small words to explain technology to them, which is a pretty sad reflection on the CEO's ability to chose a CIO based on their supposed technological knowledge.
Excellent article, well thought out and accessible to even the most novice of PC users which is in my opinion is critical; education of the stupid end user has got to be a priority.
How did he know the aquarium employee was eating a sandwich while downloading the song? I couldn't bear to read more than the 1st 2 pages of the article.
Ummm, how does a computer forensics investigation determine someone was eating a sandwich? Keyboard crumb sensor?
Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad
This should be replaced for 10 minutes of my life spent reading this garbage.
As a professional examiner, this is not a well-thought nor informative article. The author does not even have the correct "dictionary definition" of the word forensic, and so the article is on the wrong track from the very beginning. The author starts with a mistaken premise, and continues mistakenly from there. Better research would be in order. Why not interview some of the corporate and law enforcement people who do this for a living? We actually do know what we're talking about, and CIO magazine actually does not.
